WHY WET BELT REPAIRS MATTER

Many modern engines use a wet belt system to synchronise the camshaft and crankshaft more quietly and efficiently than a traditional dry timing belt. Unlike a dry belt, a wet belt operates inside the engine and is continually lubricated by oil.

This lubrication helps performance but also accelerates normal belt wear due to heat, oil exposure and mechanical stress. If neglected, worn wet belts can fail suddenly leading to extensive internal engine damage and costly repairs.

WHAT IS A WET BELT?

A wet belt is a type of timing belt that works inside the engine, coated in lubricating oil. It controls the precise timing between the crankshaft and camshaft that keeps your engine running smoothly. Over time, even with correct lubrication, the belt’s material degrades due to heat and oil exposure. Unlike standard belts positioned outside the oil, this constant lubricated environment means wear can happen earlier than expected, making proactive maintenance essential.
